I am constantly on the lookout for guitar websites which have quality resources for learning guitar players. While there are thousands of sites out there, this page will feature only those I've checked out and given the 'PJ Seal of Approval'.

Guitar Lessons:

Amazing Guitar Secrets is a fantastic and comprehensive Guitar course, featuring over 4 hours of Video and 324 pages of downloadable guitar instruction books. Guitars and Gear

MusicPower is an online guitar and music gear store, where you get the widest selection of every instrument and piece of music gear - all top quality and at excellent value for money. I bought my beautiful Takemine from Eric and Steve at just over half of the price I would have paid in a high street store, and far cheaper than any other online guitar store on the 'net. That was a few years ago, and I'm delighted to see that they have gone from strength to strength at MusicPower, the selection is wider, and their products are even better value than before.

Piano/Keyboard Lessons:

HearAndPlay Learn to play piano by ear, as well as sight-reading from written sheet music. The 'play-by-ear' training will have you playing songs after just the first session, and playing your favourite songs within days! This is one of those learning programs which has great depth, but also gets you 'hands on' from the very start. Whether you want to play blues, gospel, country, rock - whatever your style, Jermain Griggs' well-planned and enjoyable HearAndPlay piano lessons will get you there, and in an unbelievably short time. Guitar Software:

SongSurgeon is a great new software tool which will hugely benefit all musicians ( not just guitarists). The main concept, like that of all great ideas, is really simple. You can control the speed of any song, or part of a song - whether it is on a CD or in one of the many formats (MP3, WAV, WMA etc. ) on your PC. So, when you're trying to figure out that nifty riff (lead guitar, piano, whatever) on the song you're learning to play - just set the Loop start/end points to the riff part of the song, set the speed rate ( say 75% ), and it will play, without any pitch change, repeatedly, while you work out the pattern. Tony Aja ( of GuitarLeads renown ) sent me a couple of video clips to explain the product - The first explains the Slowdown features - the second describes pitch change, file conversion and other features, If you have a few minutes, these are well worth watching, as they show the product in use, you can really see how it would benefit you, whether you play guitar, keyboards, bass, drums - even vocals. The launch page, which gives much the same information is at http://www.songsurgeon.com/ - but I would strongly advise checking out at least the 'slowdown' video demonstration, it really opens your mind to the opportunities of this really clever musician tool.
